Removals to London

Good to know

Moving to London, answered

The things people most often want to know before a move into the capital — long-distance moves, the London end (ULEZ, permits, lifts), international moves and quotes. If yours isn’t here, just ask.

Moving to London from the UK

Which parts of the UK do you move to London from?

All of it. The North (Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle), the Midlands (Birmingham, Nottingham), the South West (Bristol, Exeter, Cornwall), Wales, Scotland (Edinburgh, Glasgow), the South Coast and East Anglia. If your move ends in London, we can start it just about anywhere.

Is a long-distance move to London done in one go?

Usually, yes — we plan it as a single journey with a careful end at each side. For the longest hauls, from Scotland or the far South West, timing gets planned around traffic and driving hours so the London end doesn’t land at the worst moment of the day.

Can I share a load to keep a long move sensible?

You can. If you’re not filling a lorry, a shared load — your goods travelling with other moves heading the same way into London — is often the sensible choice on a long haul. A dedicated load runs to your own schedule instead. We’ll explain which suits what you’re moving.

Do you move to all of London, or just certain areas?

All of Greater London — north, east, south, west and central. Each has its own quirks, from the mansion blocks and porters of the centre to the terraced streets of the inner boroughs and the sprawl of the outer suburbs, and we plan the London finish around wherever you’re headed.

The London end

How does ULEZ affect my move?

The Ultra Low Emission Zone now covers the whole of Greater London, so it applies wherever you’re moving to. Our vehicles are sorted for it — it’s built into how we run, not something you need to think about on the day.

Do I need a parking permit for the removal van?

Often, yes — many London streets need a permit or a suspended bay so a removal van can park legally and close to the door. Where that’s the case, we help arrange it with the council ahead of the day so the load-in isn’t a scramble.

What about the Congestion Charge and red routes?

If your new home is in the central Congestion Charge zone, the charge and its timing are built into the plan. Red routes and one-way systems shape where the van can stop, so we work the load-in around them rather than leaving it to chance.

Can you handle a flat with a lift or a mansion block?

Yes — it’s everyday London work. Lifts, loading bays, porters and booking slots all come with the territory, and we square the building’s rules and the access before we arrive, so the move runs smoothly at the London end.

International moves to London

Do you bring people to London from Europe?

We do. We move households to London from France, Italy, Spain and Portugal, planned as a route pair from your address abroad to your new London one, with one team from the Continent to the capital.

How does customs work when importing a home to the UK?

For belongings you’re bringing to a new main home in the UK there’s a recognised process, and we prepare the paperwork — the inventory and the transit and customs documents — as part of the move. You won’t be left working it out at the border.

What’s the route like from the Continent into London?

By road, mostly — across the destination country to a Channel crossing at Calais (Eurotunnel or the Dover ferry), then up the M20 and M2 to the M25 and into the capital. We plan the crossing and the London approach around the realities of the road.

Quotes, timing and booking

How do I get a quote?

Send us your details and a bit about the move through the quote form — where you’re moving from, roughly how much, and your London destination — and we’ll reply by email with a clear, written, no-obligation quote. For a larger move we’ll arrange a survey first.

How quickly will you get back to me?

Promptly — usually within a working day or two of getting your details. If your move is time-sensitive, say so in the notes and we’ll prioritise it.

When should I book a move to London?

As early as you comfortably can, especially for a long haul where the dates and the van need lining up. We’ll always try to help at shorter notice, though — just ask and we’ll see what we can do.

Are my belongings covered on a long move?

Yes. Goods-in-transit and liability cover are part of how we work, and we set the terms out in writing with your quote so you know where you stand before anything’s booked — which matters all the more when your things are on the road for a distance.
